A modern farming company
Turnrow Farm Services, LLC is responsible for operations growing corn, cotton, soybeans, and wheat in the Tennessee Valley Region of North Alabama. It is a new company, designed to be adaptable and serve a changing farming landscape built on a multi-generational tradition of good business management, industry leadership, and integrity in all matters. Turnrow maintains the same executive team as its predecessor companies, Martin Farm and The Albemarle Corporation, and remains at the forefront of utilizing regenerative farming practices.
Regenerative Agriculture
We use conservation farming practices to protect our crops from hot and dry summer weather and improve the soil for generations to come.
Turnrow has been no-till or minimum-till since the mid-1990s, and we've incorporated intensive cover cropping with 4-5 species blends since 2017. Legumes in those blends fix their own nitrogen, allowing a reduction in synthetic nitrogen applications. We rotate between chicken litter and precise placement of synthetic fertilizers based on soil sample results.
After conducting research across all US cotton producing regions, a national soil health organization claimed that Turnrow's soils were the healthiest they had seen anywhere cotton is grown in the United States.
Multi-species cover crops
Four-to-five species blends since 2017 hold the soil, feed it through the winter, and fix their own nitrogen.
Rotation on every acre
Crops change annually across the whole farm, breaking pest cycles and balancing what each field pulls from the soil.
Chicken litter for fertility
We put poultry litter to work in place of synthetic fertilizer, the same practice behind our hauling business.
Precision nutrient placement
Zone soil sampling turns into variable-rate prescriptions, so fertilizer and lime go only where a field actually needs them.
Independent scouting
A third-party consultant scouts weekly, so we spray on evidence, not on a calendar or out of habit.

Data-based decision making
For generations, Turnrow has been a pioneer in farm recordkeeping and precision technology to help guide business decisions and the stewardship of natural resources.
Every field is soil-sampled by zone, based on the yield history of specific areas of the field. Those samples become prescriptions that place fertilizer and lime only where they are needed. In season, we pull weekly plant-tissue samples to track fertility inside the plant itself. Drone NDVI imagery maps crop vigor across each field, feeding variable-rate fertility and plant-growth-regulator applications. The goal of each of these practices is to be the most efficient manager of every acre across highly variable soils.
